Arriving in Frankfurt again was like putting on an old pair of shoes. Well... mainly cause I stopped here on the way to Italy. I was really looking forward to seeing herr Heidel again. For those of you who don't know herr Heidel.... he is quite a unique character. He is a very excentric old german fellow that runs a private taxi service. I have taken a few photos of him.... much to his confusion, but few came out because there was too much back lighting. During the drive back from Frankfurt, we discussed the sad state of affairs that has befallen his Taxi since the last time I road in it. Turns out he went into a gaurd rail with it last winter and dinged up the left side a bit. Then just recently, he lost a weeks wages and 5,000 Marks trying to fix the tranmission. The company that did the work managed to screw something else up so now the the truck only goes 85 kph.... roughly 45 mph. At the time... this didn't affect anything... but it will later. I managed to talk Simone Schupe into changing my hotel from the Macure to the Burger Hoff, not realy sure why the arrangements were originally made for the Macure... something about company policy... I don't recall. The Burger Hoff is a much better place to stay... more homey feeling. So... I got Simone a little surprise for her trouble...hope they were good ! She also managed to hook me up with a company service car.... which... well I had some problems with... if ya absolutley need to know.. ask me in person. Don't think it would be a good idea to go public with it. Lets just say nothing was permanentley damaged or hurt and no one ended up in jail :-) Wilfried was great as usual, he really does a great job of keeping the computers running in Germany. He was very busy with stuff.... in fact he was even supposed to take the day off when I arrived. We joked around for a while but then decided to get down to work. Everything had already been set up in Germany and all I had to do was change some configurations on the server and configure the clients. This is why I figured I could make up the time in Germany. I didn't realize that Friday was a holiday in Germany, but I managed to talk Hienz Roehr to come in so I could finish my work. On top of that, I had my flight scheduled for 4:30 which meant I had to leave Wetzlar by 2:00. So remember back when I said the truck was only doing 45 mph..... this caused me to be severley late for the flight. So I had to do a sprint to the Gate and have the luggage checked in there.... I didn't think I was gonna make it. And now for some pictures.... Sunset from while landing at Frankfurt. |
